Tintype – Invented in 1851, tintypes are photographs in pure silver on a metal plate. Images are created directly in a large format camera using antique lenses.

All Tintypes are varnished with the traditional blend of frankincense and lavender oil to protect the image. Each is a one of a kind creation that will last centuries with care.

Tintypes include custom frames made from recycled antique wood from the north woods of Wisconsin. Each is as unique as the tintype image. Click on any image to see more details on its product page

Ambrotype Photographs on Sale

Ambrotypes are tintype photographs in pure silver but made on glass plates. Most of our images are made on recovered antique glass which is custom cut and cleaned for photography. Antique glass can have interesting character such as small ripples, bubbles or scratches. We also do some images on stained glass which gives more character and depth. All images are created directly in my large format camera using antique lenses.
